Norma M. Godin, age 91, went to be with her Lord on June 29, 2024 at the All American Memory Care in Londonderry, New Hampshire, surrounded by her loved ones.
Norma was born December 28, 1932 in Madison, Maine, daughter of the late Franklin M. and Jennie O (Sawyer, Burleigh) Bradeen.
Norma and her family moved to New Hampshire in 1945. Norma was educated in the state of Maine and New Hampshire schools.
On January 6, 1951, Norma was married to Alexander Godin in Sanford, Maine. They then moved to Hollis, New Hampshire. Norma worked at the former Sanders Association for 15 years. In 1982 Norma and her husband Alex moved to San Bernardino, California and worked as managers of the Villa Granada Apartment complex until 1986.
In 1986, they moved back to New Hampshire and bought the Colonial Comfort Inn which included a restaurant located in Gorham, New Hampshire. They sold the business in 1994 and retired in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Norma is survived by four children, David and his wife, Susan of Nashua, New Hampshire; Patrick and his wife, Audrey of Eubank, Kentucky. Kathleen and her husband, Richard Smart of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Christoper Alan and his wife, Kathryn of Highland, California.
Norma has ten grandchildren: Mark Godin of Vallejo, California, Brooke Godin Brayboy of Angier, North Carolina, Cindy Godin Spencer of Scarborough, Maine, William Vaillancourt of\ Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Brian Vaillancourt of Rindge, New Hampshire, Jennifer Escobar of Somerset, Kentucky, Jared Godin of Somerset, Kentucky and Alexander Godin of Somerset, Kentucky, Jessica Godin of Upland, California, and Brandon Godin of Highland, California.
Norma has 16 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild and several cousins in the New England area.
Predeceased are her mother and father Franklin and Jennie Bradeen, her husband Alexander, two half-brothers Edgar and Chester Burleigh, two half sisters Margaret Rowman and Althea Burleigh and her son-in-law Dennis Vaillancourt.
Norma enjoyed taking writing courses as well as Spanish and world history classes at the Rise program at Rivier University which had given her much enjoyment and knowledge. Norma continued to write her memoirs of her life since 1951 and was a communicant of the Nashua Baptist Church.
SERVICES: There will be a memorial service at the Nashua Baptist Church, 555 Broad Street, Nashua, New Hampshire on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
