Norman James “Jim” Fassett (1942 – 2023)

A life-long square dancer, New England sports fan, and horseshoe thrower, Norman James Fassett passed away from Myasthenia Gravis, with the loving support of his family, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on October 12, 2023. Born on October 6, 1942, the son of Norman W. Fassett and Katherine Fassett.

He was the husband of Marianne Fassett, for 58 years, married on April 4, 1965.

Jim attended Vilas High School in Alstead, NH, and pursued higher education at the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Agriculture. He served as a member of the National Guard. He was employed as an Agway Store manager for 20 years, and a Merriam Graves truck driver for 11 years.

Along with square dancing, sports fan, and horseshoe player, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends to places including US National Parks and internationally to the Caribbean, Baltics, and Holland. He enjoyed attending NH and VT Humanities presentations to further his knowledge of culture and history.

Jim was preceded in death by Nancy Smith, sister-in-law, and is survived by Marianne Fassett, wife; Bettianne Small and Carlene Fassett, daughters; Carol Fassett, sister; Luther Small, son-in-law; Carter Small, grandchild; and Gene Smith, brother-in-law.

ARRANGEMENTS: No formal services will be held at this time. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (myasthenia.org) or the Square Dance Foundation of New England (sdfne.org).
