Norm served 20 years in the US Air Force, retiring in 1975 from Pease AFB in Portsmouth, NH where he was the Integrated Avionics/Aerospace Ground Equipment Superintendent for the FB-111. During his Air Force career, he was an integral part of the B58 Hustler program at Bunker Hill AFB (now Grissom AFB) Indiana. Additionally, he had the opportunity to be part of the team that transitioned the SR71 to the Air Force inventory. He led an exciting and distinguished military career.

His next responsibility was managing the Metrology Lab at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he supervised staff who serviced the test equipment used by the engineers for the submarine overhauls. He was spirited away to the civilian sector, where he became a director of the Metrology Lab for Textron Defense Systems in Wilmington MA. He fully retired in 1996.

Norm was an avid golfer, chairside philosopher, and model plane builder. He had a rich and dynamic life that only slowed down in the last year. He found great comfort in his companion cat Freddie.

Norm was living in Florida near his daughter Ann, when he became ill and entered the hospital. He and the kids talked at length about his wonderful life and he chose to hospice right there at the hospital. He died comfortably two days later.
