Odorico “Fonzie” Fonseca, 83 of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 16, 2021 after a long period of declining health.
Odorico was born on July 4, 1938 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was the son of Hipolito V. Fonseca and Ondina Martinez de Fonseca.
He lived most of his life in Uruguay until he migrated to the U.S. with his loving wife and two children during the memorable blizzard of 1978. On December of 1993, he was granted the honor of U.S. Citizenship. He resided permanently in Manchester, NH until his timely passing.
He worked various jobs throughout his life. The most memorable one was when he worked Maintenance for New Hampshire Plastics. He worked there for 15 years until his retirement. During this time, he was given the nickname “Fonzie” by all those who knew him well.
Odorico will be remembered by those who knew him personally as an outgoing, wonderful soul who was always eager to help out his own family, friends, and neighbors in any way possible.
He was a loving, dedicated and devoted husband and father. He loved sitting on the porch admiring birds, flowers, and local wildlife. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed deep sea fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Odorico is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Norberta Myrian (Peratto) Fonseca, his daughter, Claudia S. Fonseca of Manchester and his son, Fernando D. Fonseca and his wife, Sabrina (Dutrisac) Fonseca of Manchester.
At Odorico’s request, his funeral will be private.
