Opal O. LaFlamme

MANCHESTER – Local Centenarian, Opal Oates LaFlamme, passed away on March 10, 2023, at the age of 102, at home, as she wanted, after a brief period of declining health surrounded by loving family members.

She was born October 8, 1920, in Hendersonville, North Carolina to Garland E. and Nan (Sinclair) Oates.

She was a registered nurse, a graduate of the Capital City School of Nursing, District of Columbia General Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Mrs. LaFlamme was a founding member of the Notre Dame Hospital Associates, and served as treasurer of the associates for several years. Her late husband, L. Adrien LaFlamme, M.D., was the light and love of her life for 67 years.

She leaves two children, Adrienne F. LaFlamme and her husband, Joseph Capozzi, and Susan LaFlamme Maltais and her companion Edward J. Thompson; a daughter-in-law, Madeleine S. LaFlamme; and three grandchildren, Kim LaFlamme Sherman and her husband James, Edmond Joseph Adrien Maltais and Christina LaFlamme Cellamare; and one great grandson, Jacob Sherman. She was predeceased by her son, Paul N. LaFlamme, 78, who sadly passed away October 5, 2022 after a lengthy battle with COPD.

Mrs. LaFlamme was an avid reader and flower gardener. She also loved doing crossword puzzles. Another love was her dogs, especially Natasha, a Doberman pinscher, and three poodles, Poulette, Caraway and Maxine.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no visiting hours. Following cremation, she will be placed next her husband in the St. Augustin Cemetery. Services will be private. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester.
