Patricia Ann Flynn

Patricia Ann Flynn, 77, of Concord, NH passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Hospice House in Concord after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patricia was born on May 8, 1947, at Mitchel Air Force Base of Long Island, NY, as the daughter of Francis J. Flynn and Dorothy R. Flynn (nee Shea). She attended Mount Saint Mary’s High School of Nashua, and graduated in 1965. She continued her education and achieved her B.A. in Mathematics at the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 1969.

Patricia went on to create an impressive program for at risk youth under the University of Vermont. Part of the 4H Vermont Foundation, it later became Talent Search funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant. It gave the youth opportunities to access education, career goals, character building, positive mentorship, and experiences of a lifetime, among many things. She had a passion for supporting young people in a myriad of ways and remained involved in those endeavors throughout her lifetime. Pat went on to travel the world, and fell in love with many cities and cultures, but Greece and Italy were some she held most dear. Her appreciation for travel even allowed her time to reside in Vermont, Italy, Greece, Michigan, Arizona, and Concord, NH.

Patricia was a successful mathematics teacher at Concord High School for over 21 years, known as Mrs. Johnson throughout her career. Afterwards, she taught and tutored at New Hampshire Technical Insititute for 8 years. In so many ways, she was a teacher until her final day; it was in her blood. Patricia was also lucky to have a green thumb and for decades nurtured a large, gorgeous garden full of food and beauty. Patricia was highly intelligent, curious, passionate, progressive, astute, dedicated to social justice, consistently supported opportunities for all, loved to learn, and held close and loving relationships with her family and friends.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Dorothy, her brother, Peter M. Flynn of Manchester, NH, and her stepmother Tess.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Katie Johnson and granddaughter Stella Bartlett of Concord, NH, her son Kevin Johnson and wife Shino Ito of Boston, MA, in-laws Hisahiro Ito and Yoshimi Ito of Japan, her sister Susan R. Provencher (nee Flynn) and husband Jerry J. Provencher of Bedford, NH, brother Kevin Flynn and wife Natalie Flynn of Nashua, sister Cynthia R. Flynn of Hampton, niece Regina Flynn, niece Taryn E. Provencher and wife Rebecca Nichols, nephew Ryan F. Provencher and wife Jordan Provencher, niece Kurstin M. DelGiudice and husband Greg DelGiudice, and other adored, extended family.
