PATRICIA ANN WILLIAMS SWETT


Patricia Ann Williams Swett, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the comfort of her home in her daughters arms after a long illness with COPD that she battled with grace & dignity.

She was born in Lebanon, NH on December 8, 1934. A daughter of Herbert Charles Williams and Beulah Bomyea.

Predeceased by her husband Wendell L Swett of 48 years in 2002, she is survived by her son, Brian Alan Swett of Kansas City, MO, daughter-in-law Lauri Jean, grandsons Stephen and Christopher, her daughter, Karyn Jayne Swett of Plainfield, NH, her significant other, David Oliver Thorp of Deleon Springs, Fl, her aunt Olive Mackay and cousin Sandy Bishop, originally from Windsor, VT, an aunt in Venice, Fl and many cherished brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Patricia attended Windsor Elementary School and Windsor High School and then graduated from the Burlington Academy of Hair Design. She later came to own and operate Pat Swett's Beauty Shoppe which was operated from her home in Plainfield. She also worked at Hanover Health Terrace until 2002 when she then stayed at home to care for her uncle during his final months.

Patricia and Wendell enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping in their fifth wheel, traveling to Florida together for the winter, dancing and gardening. They provided a wonderful life for their two children, full of great memories and stories that both Patricia and Wendell can be very proud of.

Patricia wintered in DeLeon Springs, Fl where she met David. David and Patty met at a senior center dance which was one of their favorite activities. They became loving partners for the last four years of Patty's life. They were active church goes, enjoyed their cruises together and made a hobby of gardening around the home. David originally from CT, visited Patty when up in NH during the summer. A trip up the cog railway at Mt. Washington was a thrill for them both.

Patricia was a gentle soul who easily loved, laughed and enjoyed life. She also loved animals of all kinds and during the last 7 months in NH, she was able to to be with the family dog and cats.

Patricia's daughter would like to thank everyone that made Patricia's final months so enjoyable. Between friends visiting, neighbors stopping in with her favorite desserts, family& friends visiting for the first annual Swett Christmas party, Susan and John Gregory-Davis from the Meriden Congregational Church and especially the wonderful assistance of Jeannie Hines, Glenn Griffin and Beth Clifton who made it possible for mom to see the lights at LaSalette that she hadn't seen in years - all of these kind gestures and more made for wonderful memories that kept her smiling. Also a big thank you to Hospice for all their wonderful support, especially Brenda St Clair and Jeannie Hines who became like family.

Patricia's daughter would also like to thank her mother for teaching her a new level of patience and love during this journey. To have her mother tell her on a daily basis how lucky she was to have her favorite daughter taking such good care of her made it all worth while.

A memorial service will be held June 16, 2012 at the Meriden Congregational Church and then a celebration of Patricia's life following at her home in Plainfield, NH for all to attend.
