Patricia Ann (Anderson) Van Horn 87, of Westmoreland NH passed away on Nov. 14, 2024. She left this world peacefully.
She was born in Rockland, ME on May 28, 1937, the daughter of Hilda(Foster) Anderson and Donald Anderson Sr. She lived her early years in Rockland and later moved to Milford CT. She enjoyed her elementary and high school years and graduated from Milford High School in 1956.
Pat met the love of her life, Edgar Van Horn and they were married June 16, 1956. They built a life together and brought four children into this world.
Pat’s family was her life. Her family always came first. There were many camping and cottage vacations on lakes and the ocean. Amazing memories for all.
In 1967 the family moved to Peterborough NH. The beginning of many happy years.
Pat was involved with anything that interested her children. She was a den mother, a Brownie , Girl Scout and 4H leader. She was instrumental in teaching and guiding many young minds.
She had various jobs, along with raising her children. A daycare in her home, Hall’s Clothing, Pawprints, School lunch lady, Black Swan and Brookstone. Many lifelong friendships were formed.
In 1984, Pat and Bud bought a cottage on Sheepscot Lake in Palermo, ME. It became the family gathering place for many years to come.
In 1986 they moved to Portclyde, ME and opened a gift shop and then later Thomaston ME. Pat joined the Maine Quilters and became an accomplished quilter. She created quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pat and Bud took many vacations. Some of the most memorable were their windjammer cruises, Holland and Norway.
Pat was always so involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and extended to their friends. They all knew they were important and loved by her.
In 2010 Pat and Bud moved back to Peterborough NH to be closer to family. She then became involved with the Monadnock Quilters and continued making quilts for new family members.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Edgar Van Horn; children Margo Bergan, Judith (Bill) Callahan, Donald Van Horn and Karen (Mark) Ames. Grandchildren Jeremiah, Jason, Christopher, Nicholas, Gretchen, Megan, Trisha, Teresa, Jessica, Thomas and Lizbeth. Great grandchildren Oliver, Roux, Garrett, Nicole, Aidan, Owen, Emmaline, Lauryne, Avery, Noah, Lucas, Ryan, Isabella, Rosie, Callum, Brody, Maddox, Luna,Kaden,Abel,Calliann,Grace,Andrew,Logan,Jacoband Grayson. A brother Donald (Beverly) Anderson II, sister Helen (Anderson) Day.
She is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Hilda Anderson and brother Forrest Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will held In Peterborough NH on May 17, 2025. Details to follow.
