Patrick J. Fennessy (75) of Spofford, NH passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026 in a beautiful wooded area, as he would have wanted. Patrick was born in Bellows Falls, VT to William "Bill" and Marion (Podwin) Fennessy and lived much of his life in New Hampshire. He worked hard, read thousands of books, took thousands of photographs, and enjoyed watching wildlife and people wherever he traveled.

Patrick enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 after high school and served with honor in the Vietnam War 1971-1972 as a construction draftsman, and earned degrees from UNH's Merrimack Valley College, and from Franklin Pierce College. After college he chose to work outdoors, primarily for Frank W. Whitcomb Construction paving roads. He enjoyed working and living outdoors, gardening, hiking, camping, and backpacking in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. He loved his family, his dog Jake, and a very special friend Claudia Burdett-Lerner and their shared dog Oona.

Surviving family members include his sisters Ellen Brnger and Jane Kelly, and brother-in-law Jim Kelly, as well as many cousins and lifelong friends. A private burial service will be held in the fall.
