Paul Frederick Bangs

Paul Frederick Bangs, 87, died peacefully in hospice care on March 22, 2023.  He was the devoted husband of Beverly R. Bangs for 65 years until her passing in 2020.  He was the second of 2 children born to the late C. Fred Bangs and Lillian (Daly) Bangs on July 11, 1935 in Wakefield, MA.  He has 1 sister, Helen Silver, who lives in Maryland.  He grew up in Candia, NH, where he completed 2nd and 3rd grade in the same year.  He graduated from Manchester Central HS, where he met his future bride, Beverly.  They were married in August 1955 and lived in Candia for 5 years before moving to Nashua, NH in 1961, where they bought the home they lived in for 60 years.  Paul also completed a year of technical school and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for several years, earning the rank of petty officer 3rd class and spending summer duty in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  He worked as an insurance sales representative and an automotive store manager before becoming an engraver and a machinist for Sanders Associates in Nashua, where he worked until retiring in 1990.  He also worked part-time as a taxi driver during that time.  After retiring, he continued to work part-time as a machinist for 10 more years.

Paul was a wonderful role model as a husband, father and family man who was dedicated to his marriage and to his family.  He always did whatever was necessary to take care of his family, at times working 3 jobs, but could always be depended upon to be there when needed.  He was a quiet, but firm disciplinarian and always provided a calm, solid sense of stability for the family.  He had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed puns and plays on words.  He served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout troop leader for years and as a Little League coach.  Paul and Beverly attended all of their sons’ activities and athletic events and were their most ardent supporters.  He spent countless hours helping his boys with their homework, projects, and reports.  Paul enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots play, loved camping, hunting, boating and fishing, woodworking and furniture refinishing, and played the guitar in a band as a teen and young adult.  To the end, he always had a ready smile and a respect for people.  He will be greatly missed.

Paul is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Beverly, his parents, Fred and Lillian, and by several brothers- and sisters-in law.  He is survived by his sons Ken (Mary), Gary, and Steve (Barbara), 9 grandchildren: Michael (Elizabeth), Corey, and Andrew (Lindsey) Bangs, Elizabeth (Michael) Mosher, Kathryn (Eric) Dahl, MaryGrace, and Matthew (fiancée Annie) Bangs, and Sam (TJ) Seagraves and Dylan Bangs, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, his sister, Helen, his niece, Stephanie, and nephews Stan and Stewart Silver, and sisters- and brothers-in law and many other loving nieces and nephews on Beverly’s side of the family.

The family would like to extend their love and deep appreciation to Michael and Liz Bangs for their unselfish and loving care of Paul in their home for a year and a half after Beverly’s death.  And heartfelt thanks to the staff of the memory care unit at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough, NH for their warm, diligent, and respectful treatment of Paul while he was in their care for the past year.

A funeral service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Kinsley Street in Nashua on Saturday, April 29, at 11:00 a.m.
