Paul Elphege Bouffard, 92, passed away on Monday June 23, 2025at Havenwood Health Services Center in Concord, NH, with family by his side.
Born on April 16, 1933, in Nashua, NH, he was he son of Elphege and Alice (Boucher) Bouffard.
Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Leyte program. He was a former graduate of Fitchburg State University,
He married the love of his life, Claire Lydia Dube, on August 31, 1957, in Hudson, NH.
Paul’s working career was with Raytheon Corporation as a Test Systems Engineer on multiple programs including the invaluable Patriot missile defense system utilized in the Gulf War theater.
He enjoyed many hobbies including biking, fishing, hunting, photography, Nordic Skiing, archery, woodworking, birding, and hiking.
After retirement, Paul and Claire traveled to each of the 50 United States and all Canadian Provinces. Many of his trips were associated with the Elderhostel Educational Adventures.
His love of the outdoors encompassed every season. His commitment to Jackson Ski Touring included Timing Team responsibilities in the 2007 NCAA Skiing Championships as well as the Junior Olympics.
Paul’s fascination with weather and astronomy brought him to Mount Washington Observatory, where he was a tireless volunteer for 32 years. This earned him the President’s Medal.
More than anything, Paul loved his wife, children, grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Spending time with his family was most important to him.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Claire Bouffard, his children; David Bouffard and his wife Sylvie, Michael Bouffard and his wife Kim, and Peter Bouffard and his partner Dina MacDougall. His grandchildren; Adam Bouffard, Brittany (Bouffard) and husband Derek Franzek, Steven Bouffard and his wife Noelle, Brian Bouffard and his wife Kim, Meghan Bouffard and her husband Chris Ruble, and Emily Bouffard. His Great-Grandchildren; Gavin, Garrison, and Graham Bouffard, and Isaac and Levi Franzek, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish located at 180 Loudon Road in Concord, NH, on Tuesday July 1, 2025, at 10:30am. Burial with military honors will take place following the service at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution in Paul’s name to the American Cancer Society.
