Paul J. Brochu, 77, of Pembroke, NH died Tuesday, December 5, 2007 at Merrimack County Nursing Home. Paul was born on April 24, 1930 in Concord, NH. He was the son of the late Joseph P. and Marjorie M. (Bulmer) Brochu. He graduated from Concord High School in Concord, NH and later joined the United States Army and served as a medic. After his time in the service he returned to work for Rumford Press. He worked there in bindery until the company closed. He then was employed by Webster Valve where he worked in their janitorial department for ten years. Paul was a dedicated volunteer at the Suncook Senior Center in their Community Action Program. He had been recognized for his dedication by receiving the Most Hours Volunteered Award and also numerous appreciation awards for his services. He was also a proud member of the VFW. Paul is survived by Marie Evangeline Boissy (Mrs. Alfred T Boissy Sr.), Donald R. Brochu, Edward R. Brochu and his wife Jacqueline (Grandmaison), David N. Brochu and his wife Margaret (Christmas), JoAnne A. Grandmaison and her husband Lucien. He is also survived by his nephews Mark and Scott Grandmaison who cared for Paul throughout his life, and many other nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Peanut. Paul was predeceased by an infant brother Gerard Arthur, an infant sister Joyce Evelyn, and his companion of 25 years Carol Southwick. A memorial service will be held Monday December 10, 2007, 11am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Paul to the Concord-Merrimack County SPCA, 130 Washington St. Penacook, NH 03303.
