Paul DeGrass

Paul DeGrass, 80, of Jensen Beach, FL, passed away on October 18, 2023, at Poplin Way Assisted Living. He was an adventurous soul as he grew up in Bangor, Maine to the late Claude and Catherine (Connors) DeGrass.

He was a small business owner who established a family life in Maine as he raised his three boys.  When his children were young, he took his kids to the racetrack, specifically Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine, which was always an important part of his life. His son Jeff often tells stories of how so many times he would take him and his two brothers, Chris and David to the track and then stay late so they could meet all the drivers after the race.  His children were the center of his life. Not a day went by that he would tell anyone he could how much he loved “his three boys so much”.

He was married to his wife Dale, the love of his life for a wonderful eighteen years. The two were truly a match in heaven and treasured all the time they spent together.  She shared his love for family, reading, and travel and he shared her love for family, horses, and endless adventures. They loved to read about the places they wanted to visit and experience the history they read about, as they would jump in their RV and hit the road traveling all across the country, driving up through Canada and into Alaska.

Throughout his retirement, he truly cherished the time he spent with all seven of his grandchildren. He became affectionately known as G-Pa, which stood for Grandpa Paul.  At the end of the day, nothing made him happier than parking his camper where his children were; sometimes this was in Cibolo Texas, with his son Chris and his family or meeting at a Disney Park to spend the week with David and his family. Mostly, they would use their RV to travel back and forth from their home in Jensen Beach, Florida, or their home in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire.   He and Dale cherished their time with friends in Florida.

In addition to his love for his family and travel, golf was his favorite sport. Playing golf with his children was more special than anything.  He lived and breathed golf, and watched endless golf matches on TV, even when he couldn’t play anymore.

He was a truly remarkable man who always found a way to say kind things about everyone in his life. He was loved by so many and will be missed greatly.

He leaves behind his sons Jeffrey Montgomery of Londonderry, NH, Christopher Montgomery and his wife Gail of Cibolo, TX, and David Montgomery and his wife Kristin of Auburn, NH; grandchildren Shannon Montgomery and her fiancé Connor O’Neil, Brandon Montgomery and his wife Katie, Caitlin Montgomery, Taylor Montgomery, Hannah Montgomery, Tyler Montgomery, and Sydney Montgomery.
