Paul Gero, 92, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024.
Paul’s life was defined by his steadfast devotion to family, hard work, and a kind and generous spirit. From 1950 to 1953, Paul proudly served his country during the Korean War, stationed in Germany as a communications specialist and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1954, Paul married the love of his life, Dorothy “Betty” Pelky, and together they shared more than 70 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was unshakable, and their life together was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Paul was an HVAC foreman, dedicating many years to Holmes & Wheeler and later BA Carson Plumbing and Heating, both based in Derry. He was known for his dedication, reliability, and craftsmanship, earning respect from colleagues and the community alike.
Paul and Betty enjoyed a full and active life well into their later years. They formed lasting friendships, loved to dance, and were often seen on the dance floor, moving in perfect harmony. They shared a love for travel, camping, and fishing, creating memories with their family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife and three children: Richard Gero and his wife LuAnn; Marvis Gero Carson and her husband Bradley; and Donald Gero and his wife Sally. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were his pride and joy.
He is also survived by his sisters; Bertha Donovan and Pauline Gosselin (Richard); and his brothers; George Gero (Sharon), and Fred Gero. He was predeceased by his brothers Richard Gero and Norman Gero.
Paul’s life was a testament to the power of family, dedication, and resilience. Though his absence leaves a deep void, his memory will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at 11 am on March 6, 2025, at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Manchester.
