Paul Anthony Philp

September 17, 1948 — May 24, 2023

Amherst, NH

Paul Anthony Philp, 74, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in England in 1948, he moved to Bermuda in the late 1960’s to begin his career. By a chance meeting, Paul met Pat while she was on Spring break. They were married on June 3, 1972, in Medford, Massachusetts.

Paul was an intelligent, well-spoken man with a quick wit. He was a natural leader and enjoyed a successful career as an executive in the insurance industry and later as the CEO of his own business in insurance software. Although he was naturally drawn towards the world of logic and numbers, he also had a deep appreciation for the arts, literature and music. Paul was curious about a wide variety of topics and could engage in a conversation with anyone. His friends joked he was a Renaissance Man.

Paul was an avid golfer and loved nothing more than enjoying 18 holes with friends on a well-manicured fairway. He took great pride in his home and maintaining a beautiful yard. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, England, and the Caribbean or a cruise to Bermuda.

More than anything, Paul was a family man. He relished time with his wife and children, and later, with his son-in-law and grandchildren. You’d often find him cheering on the grandkids at the soccer field or entertaining them with his creative stories about “Freddie Fox and Allie Alligator.” His greatest joy was seeing the people he loved together. Just last month, he organized a family trip to Disney World, the most magical place on earth.

Paul was predeceased by his infant daughter, Michelle Jennifer Philp and is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pat; his daughters, Christine Philp of Arlington, VA and Marybeth Favreau and husband, Sean and their children, Harper, Ella and Londyn of Wilmington, MA.
