Paul Richard, 71 of Hudson NH, passed away at his home on December 16, 2019 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Melrose, MA to the late Philip and Norma (DiRienzo) Richard. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School where he played varsity baseball and football. His team won the State Football Championship in 1965 with a perfect 8-0 season and he was inducted to the Malden Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 1992 for his accomplishments on both the baseball and football fields.
After graduating high school, he served in the Marine Corp reserves. He then had a long career as a Process Engineer in the thin film industry. Paul loved to travel to the beach and take cruises, play cards with 'the guys', and was a huge Boston sports fan, who was often found yelling at the referees on TV. He had a passion and great skill for golf and played whenever he had the opportunity. He enjoyed coaching many of his kids' sports teams in Tewksbury MA when they were growing up.
Paul leaves behind two children whom he loved very much, April Lee of Wake Forest, NC and Christopher Richard and his wife Rebecca of Chapel Hill, NC. He also leaves behind a loving brother, John P Richard and sister in law Janice Richard of Hampton, NH and devoted sister, Patricia Mordaunt and brother in law James Mordaunt of Bonita Springs, FL and his sister-in-law, Liz Richard.
Paul's grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved to spend time with them playing cards and never missed a chance to play a game of Sorry or Apples to Apples with them. The raucous laughter from those times can still be heard. Papa will be greatly missed by Leandra Lee, Abigail Lee and Samantha Lee of Wake Forest, NC and Chloe Richard and Mia Richard of Chapel Hill, NC.
Paul also had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he adored. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Peter Richard and his long-time companion Donna Stevenson.
