Paul A. Toursie passed away Tuesday, October 28th at Elliot Hospital after a long period of declining health. Paul was born in New York on April 26th, 1935, to Hans Toursie and Elsa L. (Oksanen) Fernberg. His early days were spent in New York, Chicago and then later relocating to Worcester, MA.

Paul was a proud Marine, serving from 1958 to 1962. He married Helene (Lajoie) Toursie on July 13, 1963. They later moved to Nashua, NH and raised their family. Prior to the 1981 PATCO strike, Paul was an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA at both the Nashua Center and in Honolulu. Following the strike, Paul worked various jobs to support his family. For many years, Paul was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and in more recent years, St. John Newmans. Paul enjoyed woodworking, playing cribbage, watching golf and basketball. In the late 70’s Paul traveled across country with the family to relocate to HI, enjoying his 8-track tape of KC and the Sunshine Band while using is his CB handle “Polar Bear”. Paul had a quick wit and a good sense of humor. He had a kind heart and a deep love of animals.

Paul is survived by his wife, Helene Toursie of Merrimack, NH. His son, Paul David Toursie (Heidi) of Merrimack, his daughter, Erika Ayala (Noah) of Hampton Falls, NH, and his daughter Susan Toursie (Jim) of Merrimack. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Brendon Hamilton of Layton Utah, Ashlyn and Emelia Toursie of Merrimack, NH, and Alexis and Mason Ayala of Hampton Falls, NH as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Peter Toursie on September 11, 2025.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation as well as the staff at Elliot Hospital ICU for their compassion and care. Paul will be laid to rest November 24, at 11 am at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Disabled American Veterans or the Nashua Humane Society
