Pauline Juliette Lagace

Pauline Juliette Lagace, beloved mother of Mark Tuniewicz (63, of Ensenada, BC, Mexico) & Sandra Tuniewicz (59, of Salem, MA) died unexpectedly at home in Danvers, MA on December 29th, 2024. She was 86 years old.

She was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on June 7, 1938 to Adrienne & George Lagace. Pauline attended the St. Louis de Gonzague school for 12 years, obtaining her high school diploma there, and also studied at Rivier University. She first worked at the Improved Machinery Co. (IMPCO), later became a real estate broker, and ultimately was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation for 18 years until she retired in 1999.

Her life was kept interesting and fun through her variety of interests which included roller and ice skating, tennis, painting, dancing, cats, spending time in nature, photography, swimming, and attending real estate and other auctions.

A lifelong Nashua resident, Pauline was a devoted mother to Mark & Sandra; her “kids” were her pride and joy. As a single mother in the 1970’s, through her thrift and good business sense she supported her two children such that they were able to attend private high schools and universities.

Pauline was also a devout Catholic, and was in many ways defined by her faith in her creator. She really enjoyed singing in the church choir. Even later in life, when she was unable to attend regular church services, she watched Sunday mass or other religious programming every day, and regularly spoke about her relationship with God. Over the years, she was an active communicant at several different parishes in Nashua.

Pauline was an avid traveller over many years. She loved visiting Arizona, San Francisco, Washington, DC & Aruba. She visited Mexico many times including Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Mazatlán, Acapulco & Puerto Nuevo. She shared her love of travel with her children when they were young, introducing them to destinations such as Jamaica, Quebec City, Montreal, Florida and Nassau/Paradise Island, Bahamas. She loved the beach! Pauline travelled regularly up into her late 70’s and later in life enjoyed cruise ships. Her most recent trip with her children, for her 75th birthday, was a cruise to Roatan Island, Honduras among other destinations.

Over the last few years, she enjoyed her sunny assisted living apartment at Brightview Senior Living in Danvers, MA where she was located closer to her daughter, made many new friends and kept her beloved cat, Coco.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents & siblings Lucie (Lagace) Allard, Dr. Maurice Lagace, and Dr. Gerald Lagace. Besides her children, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kate Mensch, godson, John Graichen, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
