Peg Maeder, age 75, died peacefully at home at midnight Saturday, the 23rd of November 2002 ending her battle with cancer. Her family surrounded her at her home at 194 Catamount Rd, Northwood, New Hampshire. She was the daughter of Cornelius and Margaret Louise Bernadette (Gerry) McLaughlin. Three siblings, her former spouse, eight children and sixteen grandchildren survive her. Peg was born Margaret Therese McLaughlin on February 3rd 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a 1944 graduate of St Mary's High School and a 1948 graduate (Suma cum Laude) of Emmanuel College. She also earned a Graduate Degree from Boston College. She had a long career in public education and mental health. Her most recent employment was with the Marion-Citrus Mental Health Clinic in Citrus County, Florida. She taught biology at Rockland High School and Cohasset High School in Massachusetts and also served as a child psychologist for various school systems and other agencies in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, California, Maine, Oregon and Florida. For a brief time, she had her own consulting business in Marshfield, Massachusetts. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Charles McLaughlin, John Eugene McLaughlin, Francis Patrick McLaughlin, Edward McLaughlin, and Paul Gerard McLaughlin. Her brother Joseph Raymond McLaughlin of Great Bend, Kansas and her sisters Mary Skipton of Cheverly, Maryland and Jeanne Quinn of Danville, Ohio survive her. Her former husband Raymond Joseph Maeder of Littleton, Massachusetts, also survives her. They were married August 28th 1948 at St Mary's Church in Holliston, Massachusetts. During their thirty years of marriage they raised eight children. They are: Mark Maeder of Germantown, Maryland; Elizabeth Imperial of Largo, Florida; Winifred Geary of Northwood, New Hampshire; Marylou Maeder of Brookfield, Vermont; Robert Maeder of Groton, Massachusetts; John Maeder of The Woodlands, Texas; Thomas Maeder of Westminster, Massachusetts and Jennifer Maeder of San Francisco, California. According to the deceased's wishes, there will be no wake and the cremated remains will be scattered at sea off the coast of Marshfield, Massachusetts during a private family event to be scheduled in the future. A Low Catholic Mass will be scheduled for family and friends during the first weekend in February 2003. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to your local Visiting Nurses and/or Hospice provider. Donations may be made in memory of Peg Maeder to the Rochester Rural District Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice, 178 Farmington Rd, Rochester, NH 03687.
