Penny Lynn Duffy

Penny Duffy, 49, of Concord, NH, passed away after a long battle with cancer on June 25th, 2024. She was born at the Torrejón Air Base in Madrid, Spain in 1974.

Penny was a kind-hearted person who always saw the positive in people and life. She faced her cancer diagnosis with remarkable resilience and unwavering positivity. A strong advocate for children with disabilities, Penny dedicated many years of her life working at the Department of Education for the State of New Hampshire. Penny loved her work family, office shenanigans, and lived for their team meetings. Penny would say in the morning, "It is going to be a great day!"

Penny had many dedicated roles for the National Federation of the Blind. She brought warmth, a listening ear, and help to parents who faced obstacles. Encouraging them with her always positive approach. Her tireless efforts to blind children and parents was honored with the Twig Award.

She also enjoyed weekends "upta camp" in Maine with her cousins, where a good water fight could pop off at a moment's notice. Penny often had sister weekends having meals, playing games, and laughing.

Penny cherished her family, friends, and the joy of sharing meals with loved ones. She found immense happiness in spending time with those she cared about. Above all, Penny loved being a mom and enjoyed watching her children become kind and accomplished adults.

Her person, Chris, has always said Penny had gravity, people were drawn to her by her kind heart, keen interest in others, and dedication to improving the lives of all around her.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Pamela and Philip Frye, and her favorite pet cat, Buttons.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Christopher Duffy; their two children, Samuel Duffy and Abigail Duffy; her sisters, Patricia DeGraff and Paulette Vespa, and her beloved cats Ruffles, Patches, and Allie.

Penny's legacy of kindness, advocacy, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A special thank you goes out to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and especially Dr. Pricilla Merriam, who worked tirelessly for Penny for many years. Any money donation should go to Dana Farber now and in the future when the opportunity comes to you.
