Peter Anthony Francis Smith passed away peacefully at home with family on Sunday morning, August 2nd, 2026. Born in Holyoke, MA on June 19th, 1957, Pete was married to Kelly Anne McDonald for 39 years and blessed with 3 children. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, his daughters, Brandi Lerra, Laura Robinson and her husband Pete, and Molly Smith as well as 2 grandsons, Carter and Brodie. He was predeceased by his mother, Eileen, and his father, Bob.

Pete was the 4th child of Eileen M and Robert M Smith. His siblings are Mary Ellen Dahlgren and her husband Marc, Robert Smith and his wife Vicki, Eileen Smith, and Michael Smith along with an extensive family of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

Pete was an independent, hard-working, charismatic, loving man. In his early years he caddied at CC of Pittsfield, earning a Ouimet scholarship. He was graduated from Dartmouth College where he was President of Alpha Delta fraternity, member of Sphinx, played golf and rugby.

After Dartmouth, Pete worked for several decades in sales within the technology space. Many of his clients became lifelong friends. He had a beautiful smile, was cheerful and always had a joke close at hand. He will be missed by his family and friends many of whom came to visit him in his last days.

He enjoyed spending time with family including camping in Michigan, watching the Patriots, Red Sox, and Michigan football, cheering on his grandsons at soccer, hosting family gatherings, summers at the beach, attending the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, stoking the fire in his woodstove, supporting and always cheering for Dartmouth.

His father instilled in him a love for the game of golf. He was an active member of the Intervale Country Club and a former member of the Manchester Country Club. His lone hole in one came at Wentworth by the Sea using his father’s old 5 iron witnessed by his brothers Bob, Mike and brother-in-law, Marc. He devoted countless hours supporting the McDonough Golf Scholarship Foundation serving on their board of directors and in other capacities. Many McDonough Scholars have benefited from his hard work and dedication over the past 30 years.

He and his family will be forever grateful to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Brigham & Women's Hospital teams for their care and service.

A funeral Mass will take place at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road in Bedford, NH on Thursday, August 27th at 11am.
