PETER A. BAGGS Peter A. Baggs, of 8 Cinder Court, Rochester, NH, died on June 1, at his home. Born on June 24, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts he was the son of the late John Homer and Irma Baggs of Wakefield, MA. He attended schools in Greenwood and Wakefield, MA and graduated from Wakefield Memorial High School in 1958. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy submarine program on active duty. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Sea Owl. He served a total of 6 years both reserve and active from 1956 – 1962. Like his father, he entered the insurance business in June 1960 with the Employers Group in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1962, his company transferred him to Manchester, NH where he organized and ran the first decentralized Property Insurance office for Employers Group. In 1966, he and his family moved to Rochester, NH where he went to work for one of the largest independent insurance agencies north of Boston. While in Rochester, he was active in many community projects, including; the Red Cross Blood Program, Dollars for Scholars Cancer Drives and others. He was a member of the Rochester Lodge of Elks for more than 25 years and was presented with the Outstanding Young Man Award by the Rochester Jaycees in 1970. As a Property and Life Safety Inspector, his work took him throughout the United States and Eastern Canada. He was a member of and past director of the NH Safety Council, the National Fire Protection and others. In 1990, he opened his own business providing insurance appraisals and underwriting surveys for a number of companies and agencies. He retired in 1995. Members of his family include; his wife Linda, of 45 years, two sons, Scott Baggs of Milton, NH, and David Baggs of Rollinsford, and 2 grandchildren. IN HIS LIFE: In addition, other family members include; his 2 daughters-in-law, Tammy Baggs, of Milton, NH; Terri Baggs, of Rollinsford, 2 nephews, Thomas & his wife Kerri of Manchester and Christian Pszenny of Colorado. Mr. Baggs was predeceased by his sister, Karen Avery. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire assisted the family with arrangements. To view an online obituary please visit www.csnh.com
