Peter John Fournier, 78, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home of 46 years in Hooksett, NH with cherished family by his side. He was born on December 10,1943 in Somerville, Massachusetts, the son of Henry Fournier and Helen (Rosi) Fournier.
Peter was the husband of Diane (Grandmaison) Fournier. They were married on February 28,1970 in Canaan, Vermont. Their 52 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, family and dancing at the beach. Peter was Diane’s rock and she was the love of his life. Their faith in God continues to bind them in love - and even in loss.
Peter was a graduate of Colebrook Academy in 1961 where he enjoyed playing on the school’s basketball and soccer teams. Growing up there, he loved to fish, hunt, and work - and later in life he loved to waterski. After high school, Peter joined the Navy where he served on the USS Intrepid. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Peter was proud of his country and always able to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. Upon the conclusion of his military service, Peter married Diane Grandmaison, also of Colebrook. Together, they moved to Manchester where Peter found work as an electrician; a trade he learned while serving in the navy (a longtime forman for Longchamps Electric). In 1976 Peter and Diane bought their forever home in Hooksett where Peter built and rebuilt each room to make this house a family home. Together, they opened a business in 1987 where people near and far were welcomed, supported and loved. Peter was a steadfast, loving father with quiet strength and a desire to spend time with family each and every day.
Peter is survived by Diane Fournier of Hooksett, NH, three children, Lori Fournier of Pembroke, NH, Michael (Kathi) Fournier of Bedford, NH and Jason (Sarah) Fournier of Leominster, MA. Peter had ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Jesua (Elissa) Richer of Cibolo, Texas, Joyana Richer, Benjamin Richer, Grace Richer, Aaron Fournier, Andrew (Cammie) Fournier of Huntington Beach, CA, Emma Fournier, Noah Fournier, Jonah Fournier, Briella Fournier.
