BOW - Peter A. Lyford, 69, died at home on Sept. 13, 2007. Born in Bow on Dec. 26, 1937, he was the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Tilton) Lyford. He served as an MP in the Air Force. After discharge, he opened Lyford's Restaurant in Bangor, Maine. He continued his restaurant career by joining Friendly Ice Cream Corp. and becoming a district manager. After 30 years, he retired and drove a school bus for the town of Bow. He was devoted to his family and loved animals, especially his dogs, Max and Daisy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; three sons, Larry, Peter Jr. and his wife, Jen, Tony and his wife Sarah; one daughter, Caroline; three grandsons Will, Alex and James; four granddaughters Jamie, Dana, Annie and Emily, and great-grandson Jack. He is also survived by his brothers Fred and John, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bow Mills United Methodist Church in Bow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Program, or to the ASPCA.
