Philip M. Billings, 81, of Ramsgate Ridge, Nashua, died peacefully Friday morning, April 23, 2004 at his home after a lengthy illness. He and his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Wright Billings, recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Mr. Billings was born March 16, 1923 in Dover, NH, son of the late Arthur W. Billings and Gladys (Sanborn) Billings. He was a 1942 graduate of Dover High School and a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force stationed from 1943 to 1946 at Amberly Air Base, Ipswich, Australia as an Instrument Landing System Technician. A longtime resident of Nashua, he was employed by Sanders Associates (now BAE SYSTEMS) as an Electrical Engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1985. An avid sailor, he was a member of the Square Pond Yacht Club in Shapleigh, ME where he spent many enjoyable summers with family and friends at his lake house on Square Pond. Mr. Billings was predeceased by a brother, James E. Billings. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sandra Billings of Nashua, and David and Roxanne Billings of Manchester; two grandchildren, Jennifer Billings of Cambridge, MA, and Brandon Billings of Nashua; two brothers, Lt. Col. (Ret) Linwood W. Billings of Haymarket, VA, and Dr. Robert S. Billings and his wife Bette of Clovis, CA; a sister, Myra E. Dixon of Bonita Springs, FL; a sister-in-law, Roberta Billings of Bonita Springs, FL, and several nieces, nephews and a cousin. In accordance with Mr. Billings’ wishes, there will be no calling hours and the services will be private. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Home Health & Hospice, 22 Prospect St., Nashua, NH 03060.
