Philip John Connell, born July 15, 1952, passed away on June 16 from end-stage renal disease.
He was the son of the late Lucille Theresa (Dumont) Connell and Philip John Connell. Philip spent much of his life in Hudson, New Hampshire, and worked for many years at Centronics and Digital Equipment Corporation. He later worked at Shaw’s Supermarkets and helped transport patients to dialysis appointments.
Philip had a lifelong love of astronomy, science, science fiction, comic books, minigolf, and reading. He was especially fascinated by the stars and often brought telescopes into fields around New Hampshire and Massachusetts, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the night sky. Earlier in life, he was also an avid cross-country skier and loved hiking throughout New Hampshire.
He was intelligent, strong-willed, and quietly generous. He cared for his mother for many years during her illness with cancer and often put the needs of others before his own. He was also grateful for the friendship of his longtime close friend, Linda Koenig-Huske.
Philip was predeceased by his parents and by his daughter, Amy St. Ours. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Laura Connell; his son-in-law, Scott St. Ours; his former wife, Deborah Andrews, the mother of his children; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Connell, Mathew St. Ours, Emily Connell, and Ian Connell; his great-grandchild, Mina Connell; and his longtime close friend, Linda Koenig-Huske.
SERVICES: No formal service is planned. The family expects to gather privately in the fall to spread his ashes in New Hampshire.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Nashua. To view Richard's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
