Phillip Roy Buckland, 89, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on September 17, 2025, at Concord Hospital of Laconia. Born in Boston, MA on November 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Arthur and Irene (Wilkie) Buckland. He was a longtime resident of Nashua, NH.

Phillip was brought up in Somerville, MA. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school in 1953. After leaving the service, he was married in April of 1961.

Phillip resided in Westford, MA for 21 years and was a dedicated telephone company employee for 32 years. He enjoyed physical exercise, including weightlifting and running, continuing to work out into his 80's. An avid sports fan, he loved to discuss the latest games. Visiting his many friends that he made at the local YMCA, Market Basket, the Dollar Store, and the Salvation Army filled his days. He could often be found giving out "Good Guy Awards" to those he felt were deserving of recognition for their kindness. Traveling was another one of his favorite hobbies, visiting Mexico, Japan, and parts of Europe. He also cherished his annual trips to Cape Cod and North Conway with his group of friends. Above all, his favorite pastime was making people laugh.

Family was extremely important to him, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He took great pride in helping them with the cost of college and saw them all graduate with honors. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments and successes, attending every dance recital, sporting event, and graduation. Along with weekly visits and gifts, he affectionately dubbed one day every year as “Grampy Day,” where he treated his grandchildren to a lunch and full day of shopping.

He is survived by his three children and two sons-in-law, Phil Michael Buckland, Diana Louise and Mark Talmer, Julie Anne and Brian Dunigan; his brother, Gerald Buckland and wife Donna; his grandchildren, Sara and Brooks Remillard, Dillon, Tyler, and Jacob Talmer, and Brilie and Shealie Dunigan, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Phillip was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard and David Buckland, and Leonard’s wife, Catherine (Kay).

Graveside burial will be held at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Road, Billerica, MA on September 26th, 2025 at 10AM. To those interested, donations can be made in his name to the Salvation Army of Nashua or the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home in Tilton.
