Priscilla Dill

Priscilla "Pat" R. (Horton) Dill, 91, went to be with her Savior on Saturday. December 5, 2020 at her home in Columbia, SC.

Born on September 23, 1929 in Attleboro, MA, she was the oldest of six children born to Alton L. Horton and Edith L. Engler Horton, and was raised in Mansfield, MA.

She married her high school sweetheart, the late James W. Dill, Sr., on Jan 19, 1948 and spent 58 years together before his passing in 2006.

Together with her husband, she raised her five children in Somersworth, NH and Middletown, RI. Jim and Pat retired to Alton, NH in 1984. There they faithfully served in their church, First Free Will Baptist Church in New Durham, where she attended for 33 years. She continued to live in Alton until 2017 when she moved to Columbia, SC with her middle daughter, Merilyn.

Pat was an avid reader and her floor to ceiling bookshelves were filled with adventure, romance, fantasy, and history books as well as many copies of God's Holy Bible, which she read from daily. She loved movies, especially Westerns; she loved anything dragons, and she especially loved visiting with loved ones and friends. Wherever she lived, whether relative, friend or stranger, she was always there to help those who needed someone who cared. She loved a house full of people and often said, "You've been here for more than five minutes, you're family". Her door was always open, there was always room for one or ten more at the table, the coffee was always hot, and the pot never ran out. She will be missed by many for her "Come as you are, just come" attitude.

She leaves behind her children; Kathleen Soucy and her husband Gillan of ME, James W. Dill, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of NC, Merilyn Wolfe and her husband Robert of SC, Donald Dill and his wife Elizabeth of NC and Robin Morrill and her husband Neil of NH; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, June McCormick of TN; brother, William Horton of NH; and sister, Sarah McGrath of NH, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Pat was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Turmelle of NH; her brother, Roger Horton of NH; and her grandson, Matthew Dill of NH.

They helped mom during winters by clearing snow from her roof. She would always have coffee and quick breads for them while they were there.
