Priscilla (Polly) B. Read, age 73, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2022 due to complications related to her courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Webster Congregational Church located in Webster, N.H. at 2:00pm, with a gathering to follow at the Concord Holiday Inn. A private burial will be held for the family at a later date.
Polly is the loving mother of son Jacob Littlejohns and daughter-in-law, Arlene Jaquez. She treasured her children and family, embracing every moment spent together to create memories with her optimistic and charismatic wisdom. Her life was a living example of her favorite motto, “All people need is to feel appreciated and that they matter.”
Born in Providence, RI on December 19, 1948, Polly was the daughter of Reverend John and Marcia Read. Polly graduated from Littleton High School, and after years of exploring the country, Polly returned to New England where she shared her love of adventure as a travel agent for over forty years at AAA. Polly’s adventurous spirit took her on many memorable vacations, including family trips to Prudence Island, RI; annual girls getaways to Wells, Maine; and various trips abroad with friends and family.
Polly is survived by her partner Edward Russell; son Jacob and his wife Arlene; father-of-son, Thomas Littlejohns; brother John Read; sisters Susan Acharekar, Rebecca Read and partner John Simonelle, Sara Wagner and partner Tom Hurley; plus her many nieces and nephews.
In honor of Polly’s lifelong aversion to floral bouquets, we ask that any donations be made at your local place of worship or nonprofit-of-choice to support Polly’s mission of spreading joy and hope, even during the darkest of times. Additionally, all are encouraged to participate in acts of kindness in memoriam of Polly.
