CONCORD -- Raleigh Harold Dutton, 81, died Aug. 2, 2008, at Havenwood-Heritage Heights, after a struggle with Alzheimer's disease. A devoted minister, husband and father, Mr. Dutton was born Sept. 23, 1926, to Gertrude Alice (Rice) and Harold Gourley Dutton in Quincy, Mass. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He became an ordained minister after earning a doctorate of theology from Andover-Newton Theological Seminary. His first parish was in Gilford in 1958, and his last was in Warner. He retired in 1991. He was remembered for his warmth, selflessness and generous spirit. One of his proudest missionary experiences was with KAIROS (ministering to prisoners). His family thanks the staff at Havenwood for the tremendously good care he received. Family members include his wife of 55 years, Ruth E. (Sandberg) Dutton; their children, Thomas R. Dutton, Annie E. Schneider, Martha S. Zock, Steven D. Dutton, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Dorothy A. Donahue; nieces and nephews. SERVICES: The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Havenwood's main building auditorium, 33 Christian Avenue, Concord.
