Ralph Lyman Snell of Bristol died peacefully at the Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin on December 7, 2015, notably on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. He was 91.
Ralph was born in Framingham MA on November 7, 1924, the son of Norman and Mary (Burns) Snell. He grew up in the Saxonville area of Framingham.
He enlisted in the US Navy on December 4, 1941, just days before the start of World War II, and served on the USS Quick destroyer in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign.
Ralph and his wife Ruth moved from Massachusetts to New Hampshire in 1980. Prior to his retirement, he worked at RP Williams & Sons Lumber & Building Supplies in Bristol and was later a bus driver in the Newfound Area School District for many years.
Before he lost his eyesight, Ralph enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and taking on other projects. Any task he started he finished well. Ralph played football during his high school years, and was an avid football fan during his adulthood. He loved his country and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years ("my sweetheart"), Ruth (Berrio) Snell, his daughter Jeanne Chellis and her husband Roy of Eastport, ME; grandsons Rick Taylor and his wife Tracey of Windham, and Bradford Taylor and his companion Nicole Dargy of Laconia; and great-grandsons Schuler Reese-Taylor and Benjamin Reese-Taylor.
He also leaves his step-daughter Judith Charbonneau and her husband Paul of Bradford; step-granddaughters Martha Lisio and husband Joseph of New Ipswich, and Mary Charbonneau and husband Donald Morris of Cocoa, FL; and step-great-grandsons George and Joseph Lisio and Willem Oelschlager.
Ralph is also survived by his brother Raymond Snell and his wife Dayne of Captain Cook, HI. He was pre-deceased by his son Ralph Snell, Jr.
Interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, following a service for family members.
