Randolph (Randy) Robert Bailey, 58, was born 20 July 1963 and passed away on 18 March 2022 , following a prolonged illness. He was a resident of Nashua, NH.
Randy spent his early years in California and Utah, later in Canada, England, Massachusetts, and eventually New Hampshire. At age 11, while living in Canada, he received the honor of being the youngest amateur radio operator in Canada at that time. In his early 20’s , while still in Canada, he was a disc jockey on a local radio station and later traveled with a Canadian band as Sound Engineer in charge of all sound equipment. Soon after he moved back to the states with his family.
During the 1980’s he was employed by Motorola and moved to California, helping to usher in the modern cell phone era as installation technician for the first-generation consumer mobile phones. Later, after returning to Utah, he became a locksmith, and worked successfully in that field for a brief time.
Being versatile and creative, he was very adaptive and multi-talented, quickly picking up many new skills. Electronics and computers became his main interest, and for many years he worked with them, constantly studying on his own as well as with formal instruction.
In 1991, he married Heidi Hancock in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they had a son, Robert Bailey.
During the 1990’s, Randy embarked on a new adventure and found himself working in the new world of Satellite Television, traveling all over the Intermountain West installing and servicing satellite television equipment. That same sense of adventure and a desire for the open road would also lead to several long-haul truck driver jobs for a brief time before he settled into his real interest, technology and electronics, the work that lasted until the end of his life.
An electronics engineer, he worked at Benchmark Electronics, Lockheed, ACT, Bull, and later NCR repairing commercial electronic equipment such as servers, POS terminals and ATMs. During this time, he taught himself a wide range of skills and earned an associate degree in Computer Science.
Randy had a sense of humor and was always doing things to make people laugh. He loved people and was always ready to spend time with them and talk about life.
His hobbies and many skills included, building computers, computer games, tropical fish, gardening, science fiction, cooking and especially photography, auto mechanics and motorcycles. Motorcycles were a lifelong passion, and he owned several over the years, always enjoying his chance escapes to the open road. He was artistic and had natural writing ability, taught himself piano and started to learn guitar. He also had an interest in science and the progress and possibilities of space exploration, always learning new things about everything. Randy loved animals and contributed to the North Shore Animal Rescue League and the World Wildlife Foundation.
He is survived by son, Robert (Robbie) and daughter-in- law Cheyenne Bailey of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brother Stephen, and sister-in-law, Graziela Bailey of Nashua New Hampshire, mother, Kira (Kirstin-Dawn) Bailey of Nashua New Hampshire, God mother Rita Simons, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
