EXETER - Raymond C. Carrier, 88, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Kirkwood Corners in Lee.
Raymond was born May 27, 1925, oldest son of Raymond and Anna (Schlager) Carrier in Utica, NY.
After serving in the Navy during WWII, he married Pauline Wilby and resided in Melrose, MA. Later, they relocated to the Exeter area where he worked as a carpenter. He worked his last 12 years at Phillips Exeter Academy where he retired in 1987.
Times of gathering with family brought him great joy. The simple pleasures of life meant the most to him whether it was helping his family with home improvements or simply watching cartoons with his great grandchildren. His favorite pastimes were gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his three children, Donald and wife Sara Carrier of West Poland, ME; Bruce and wife Margo Carrier of Greenland; Bev and husband Robert David of Exeter; brother William Carrier of Canton, NY; sister Barbara Ramie of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren Matthew and wife Alora Carrier of Falmouth, ME; Stephanie and husband Jeff Doherty of Middleboro, MA; Jacob and wife Amanda Carrier of Acton, ME; Jonathan Carrier of Greenland; Leah David of Portsmouth; Drew David of Exeter; and 4 great grandchildren, JD and Ethan Doherty, Alden and Nolan Carrier.
He was predeceased by his wife Pauline Carrier, both parents and three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Donald Carrier.
A private service will be held for his family and relatives. A graveside memorial and interment will be held on his birthday Tuesday, May 27, at the Exeter Cemetery with Military Honors. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
