Richard F. Barr exchanged his earthly life for his eternal one December 26, 2023. He was born on February 14, 1945, in Portsmouth, NH to Fredrick Barr and Elizabeth Needham.
Throughout his career, Richard exemplified versatility and dedication as a jack of all trades. He began as an Electrician and later worked as a Technician with Lucent Technology until his retirement. Richard also delved into the real estate industry and was a cherished member of the Bedford off Broadway community. In his final professional venture, he wholeheartedly served at a homeless medical clinic. Richard also served our country as an Army Veteran
Richard's involvement with his church was deep-rooted, demonstrating his unwavering faith. He served on the board of Bedford off Broadway and poured immense effort into producing plays that captured hearts and minds. Additionally, Richard held a private pilot’s license and indulged in his love for flying. As a ham radio operator and member of a gun club, he embraced his hobbies wholeheartedly. Richard was someone who genuinely gave his best to everything he pursued.
Alongside his remarkable achievements, Richard found joy in simple pleasures. Biking through nature's embrace and navigating tranquil waters in his kayak brought him solace. However, it is without question that spending time with family held the utmost importance for him.
Those who had the privilege to know Richard will always treasure the warmth from his hugs, his radiant smile, and corny jokes. We have comfort in knowing we will see him again in heaven.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ruth Cole.
Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include, his wife Lucille (Theroux) Barr, his children, Richard Jr. and his wife Holly, Meredith and her husband Edwin, Christopher and his wife Becca. Additionally, he welcomed stepchildren Marc and Sylvie, Lynn and Bruce into his family with warmth and love. Richard was a grandfather to Lauren, Chelsea, Ethan, Iliana, Ian, Hawksley – each a precious source of joy in his life. He had the privilege of being a great-grandfather to Noah and Bodie. He is also survived by his beloved sister Dorothy Austin.
A church service will be at Goffstown Harvest Christian Church 542 Mast Rd. Goffstown, NH at 9:30 am with greetings for 1 hour, followed by a celebration of life. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
