Richard "Digger" Warren Berglund

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of Richard 'Digger' Warren Berglund, 86, of Milford, NH., on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH. Digger peacefully left us after heroically battling a series of short term health issues.

Digger was born on June 27, 1938, in Cambridge, MA. to the late Christian Windsor and Bertha Viola (Sampson) Berglund. Growing up in Somerville, Lexington, and Wilmington, MA. Digger's passion for driving and building tractor-trailers began at an early age as he would routinely drive Route 20 from Cambridge, MA. to Ohio. At 19, he became the proud owner-operator of his first truck, quickly expanding to a fleet that specialized in fresh produce transportation along the East Coast from Canada to Florida.

Over the years, Digger's career saw him heavy hauling and rigging large machinery throughout the mountains of Kentucky and beyond, transporting bulk petroleum and frozen foods until his retirement at the age of 75, as the owner-operator of RB Leasing.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Digger found great joy in watching Modifieds, (with a special fondness for 'Ole Blue'), boating, riding motorcycles, driving Lincoln Town cars, enjoying good meals with family and friends, and listening to Classic Country Music.

Digger is survived by his companion of 45 years, Nina, daughters Donna Lombardi of Sterling and Brenda Berglund of Chelmsford, son, Brian Berglund of Winthrop, granddaughter Isabel Barrett, brother, John (Jack) and sister in law Linda (Lin) Berglund of Billerica, MA. nephew John (Jay), niece in law, Cindy Berglund and their sons, Jake, Nicholas, and Joshua of Burlington, MA nephew in law, Michael (Mike) Onesty and his son Sean of Dunstable, MA.

Digger was preceded in death by a most cherished nephew and niece, Richard (Richie) Berglund and Dina Onesty.

While we will miss Digger more than our words can express, our memories of him will be forever treasured.
