Richard passed away on March 2, 2023 after suffering from dementia for several years. He was born in Warwick, R.I. in 1938, and as a youngster, spent hours on the ocean fishing and gathering seafood for his family.
He moved to New Hampshire as a young man and loved the woods and the wildlife he discovered here. He hunted for deer, partridge and rabbits with his dogs. He enjoyed going into the woods for a day with his son or a buddy, just to be in the woods. He fell in love with the Northern Maine woods where he vacationed at a family camp for many years and loved to fly fish, which was his passion, for native brook trout. He was a bass fishing enthusiastic also, and fished in several bass tournaments. He belonged to several Trap Shooting Leagues winning many trophies. He truly was an outdoors sportsman throughout his life.
Richard worked at Universal Packaging/GPC in Bow for 37 years and retired in 2000 as a printing foreman. His expertise for having an eye for color earned him great respect in the industry of ‘printed cartons’. He enjoyed his work and spent many hours at the plant.
He is survived by his partner Elinor B. Walsh of Webster, his son Richard Briggs and wife Amy of Tilton, and two daughters, Vanessa Williams of Canaan, and Tina Emery of Franklin along with 6 grandchildren, Becky, Jonathan, Tasha, Timothy, David, and Roy Jr.
His sense of humor, love and loyalty to his family and friends will be missed by all.
After cremation, his ashes will be dispersed by his children.
Rest in Peace Dad, Friend, Partner.
