Richard S. Currie

Richard J. Currie, 75, a resident of The NH Veterans Home, in Tilton, died on Tuesday, September 9, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Mr. Currie was born on February 27, 1933, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Harry and Irene (Quinn) Currie, Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester and a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. He then attended Bentley College in Boston for courses in Mechanical Engineering.

He served four years in the US Air Force stationed at Kadina Air Force Base in Okinawa and Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. His awards include; National Defense Service, Good Conduct, Korean Service Medal , and the United Nations Service Medal.

Mr. Currie was employed at Biron’s Boyton Street Auto Center as chief mechanic and over 25 years at City Motors Auto Center as chief Auto Center Counter Man.

He was a former parishioner of St. Raphael’s Church, in Manchester and former member of the Winona Club.

Mr. Currie was an avid traveler in his younger years, and was a Ham Radio operator, often talking to others overseas.

IN HIS LIFE: He is survived by cousins, Sr. Margaret Ahern, CSM, Frances and Jane Kearns and Thom Minnihan.

Following cremation, he will be interred in the family lot at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford, on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 1:00 P.M.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire assisted the family with arrangements.
