Richard Gilbert DeVlaminck, 84, widow of Deanna Lena DeVlaminck, passed away at his home in Londonderry, NH August 31, 2018. He was surrounded by his six loving children. He leaves behind a large family that he was very proud of. Richard had 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Richard Gilbert DeVlaminck was born September 3, 1933 in Melrose, Massachusetts to Oscar and Harriet Rose (hatch) DeVlaminck of Everett, Massachusetts. He graduated from Everett Vocational School in 1950. He was an all-state track champ. He joined the United States Army in October 1950 and held the rank of Sargent. Richard was a Korean War Combat Veteran. He earned a number of medals and completed several combat missions. He married Deanna Lena Froio on September 1, 1958, in Medford Massachusetts. He worked as a mechanic for the MBTA in Boston, MA while raising his six children. He loved being on Plum Island in Newburyport, MA. Richard was strong and full of life even into his 80's. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Richard is survived by his children and their spouses, Donna and Danny Westcott, Denise and Keith Ryan, Debra and Joe Silva, Richard and Pam DeVlaminck, Deann and Michael LaClaire, and Oscar DeVlaminck. He is also survived by his older sister Margie Merrill. He was the oldest of two brothers Donald and David DeVlaminck, both deceased.
A private family 'Celebration of Life' will be held, in lieu of a service. Memorial donations may be made to the US Veterans Affairs or the Parkinson's Foundation.
