Richard (Dick) G. Grant, 77, of Windham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Derry, New Hampshire.

Dick was born on June 5, 1948, in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Gertrude (Finn) Grant and Arthur L. Grant, Sr. He grew up in Charlestown, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Charlestown High School in 1966, and later studied art at Massachusetts College of Art.

Dick was the longtime owner of Grant Photo on Main Street in Charlestown, a true neighborhood institution. Known especially for his portraits, Dick ran a photo studio and copy center where everyone was welcome and everybody pitched in. He was fortunate to work alongside his father, sister, nieces, nephews, and plenty of neighborhood kids who learned more than photography along the way. His calm demeanor, kind nature, dry sense of humor, and unmistakable style won him many fans. Dick was a true original.

Later in life, Dick went on to have a successful career in sales, proving that his charm and people skills worked just as well outside the studio.

Dick lived in a beautiful home near Cobbetts Pond in Windham, where he and his wife lovingly tended their gardens and hosted gatherings on the deck near the beach. His home—like Dick himself—was full of character and was his pride and joy.

Dick shared 27 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Connie (Jacques) Grant. They traveled often and loved cruising everywhere in their beloved convertibles—tops down, wind in their hair, listening to music, and no particular rush to get anywhere.

Dick was predeceased by his siblings Steven Grant, Arthur Lorne Grant, Jr., Connie Grant Garceau, and Geraldine Grant Carrington. He is survived by his sister Diane Grant of Winthrop, Massachusetts, and her husband David Lynch, along with many nieces and nephews whom he adored and helped nurture with patience, humor, and love.

Services and burial will be held privately at a later date.

Dick will always be remembered for his joy of life, his enormous talent, and his generous heart. A true individual, he touched countless lives through kindness, laughter, and a way of being that was entirely his own. His memory will be a blessing.
