A long-time United Methodist, he served as a Sunday school teacher and a youth group advisor. He was often out in his garage tinkering with small engines, obsessively mowing the lawn, or fixing a friends car. Always ready to help a stranger who broke down on the side of the road or offer a meal and a couch to sleep on for a friend down on his luck, Richard lived to serve others. He loved rock and roll, motorcycles, his many dogs, cats, and even ducks, and especially his family and friends.
