Richard James Small died Monday, August 3, 2026 at home following a period of declining health. Dick was born in Lebanon, NH on September 26, 1939 to parents Harry A. and Daisy (Melendy) Small. Dick was raised in Lyme, NH and graduated from Hanover High School in 1958. He graduated from Northampton Commercial College in MA in 1960 with a degree in accounting.

Dick married Priscilla White in 1962. He had three careers – the restaurant business, Eastman’s in Hanover, NH, the US Postal Service in Hanover, NH and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and two window washing businesses. He purchased Jim’s Window Cleaning from his nephew in NH and later opened Dick’s Window Cleaning in FL.

Dick and Priscilla raised their two sons in North Lauderdale, FL. They returned to NH in 1992 to be close to their grandchildren. They retired to FL in 2007. They returned to NH in 2022 to be close to Wayne and Kim, when their health started to decline.

In addition to work, Dick and Priscilla were Church Youth Group Leaders and loved sharing their faith over the years. Dick loved sports and could recall sports statistics from the 1940s to present day. He watched many games and cheered on his favorite teams – Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and Miami Dolphins.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Daisy Small, siblings Minnie Hahn, Rita Thompson, Harry Jr, Evelyn Schultz, Kenneth, Mary Jane, and Robert. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Dorothy White and brother-in-law, Charles White.

Dick is survived by his wife Priscilla, his son Brian (wife Kristin) and their eleven children, Shayne, Kirstin, Ayden (wife Laura), Hannah, Maya (fiancé Matthew Harmon), Jeremy, Ellen, Caleb, Charlotte, Jonathan and Alexander, and his son Wayne (wife Kimberly). He is also survived by a brother Larry, a sister Nancy (husband Tim) Dyke, a sister-in-law Stella White, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice for their amazing caregivers who brightened Dick’s days on a regular basis for just over a year. We would also like to thank Dick’s minister, Randy Gardner, who met with Dick for Bible Study every Thursday for three years. Dick told anyone that would listen that he lived a long and blessed life. We are thankful to all who contributed to that sentiment.

We will honor Dick on his birthday, Saturday September 26, 2026. Burial will be at 11am at Highland Cemetery in Lyme, NH. A memorial birthday celebration will take place from 1-3pm at his home at 258 Heater Road, Lebanon, NH.
