Richard Peter Kennedy

Richard Peter Kennedy was born on October 26th 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island to George and Nora Kennedy. Richard was the husband of his loving wife Claire Kennedy for 54 years. He was proud to serve his country in Vietnam in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He later went on to work for many years at the Boston Center in Nashua as an Air Traffic Controller before working in the private defense contractor field.

In his youth, as a newly married man with school-aged children he enjoyed spending time with his family and would never miss his sons' baseball or hockey games. As he grew older, he loved to support his sons with their entrepreneurial ventures and would provide his guidance and knowledge at any time. He also took great joy and joined them in home remodeling projects whenever he received the call for help.

In retirement, he enjoyed many endeavors including sailing out of Kennebunkport ME on his sailboat the Nora Claire, lovingly named after his mother and wife. Richard and Claire made a great team on the water and took great pride in maintaining their boat in tip top shape. Claire was a great first mate on and off the water and as a nurse by profession, took great care of him especially during his greatest time of need. During quieter times, he and Claire took on the simple pleasure of cheering on the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. He was an avid reader and an amateur artist who appreciated sketching and painting. He spent many years taking care of (and spoiling) his buddy Gracie, their beloved lab.

Most of all, he loved just being "Grandpa" to his two grandchildren Ellie and Olivia. He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Claire, eldest son Michael Kennedy and wife Jackie of Moultonborough, NH, youngest son David Kennedy and wife Lisa and their daughters Ellie and Olivia of Sandown, NH, his loving sister Carolyn Grant of Oceanside CA, his loving niece Cheryl Bailey of Carlsbad, CA as well as many other nieces and nephews.
