Richard L. Leonard, 74, of Deerfield, NH died suddenly doing what he loved the most, taking care of his horses.
Richard was born on February 5, 1942 in Chelsea, MA the son of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Scott) Leonard. He was raised and educated in Lynn, MA. While serving in the US Air Force he met and married Mary "Micki" DeGroff. The couple spent almost 50 years together prior to her passing in 2011.
Richard owned and operated Leonard Tool Company in Raymond for over 30 years. His true passion was his farm on the mountain in Deerfield where he loved to watch the deer and other wildlife roam. His horses were his second family and he enjoyed waking up every morning to care for them. Richard was a motorcycle enthusiast and treasured his Harley. He had an appreciation for most things with engines and had recently received his boating and aviation licenses.
Richard leaves behind his only daughter, Liell O'Rourke and her husband Stephen of Manchester, and their children, Dominique Demyanovich and Julia O'Rourke whom he adored.
There will be a memorial gathering for friends and family to celebrate the life of wonderful man on Thursday, February 2nd from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester.
