Richard Gordon Maloof Jr.

Richard “Dick” Maloof Jr. passed away peacefully at Salemhaven in Salem, NH on November 25, 2024 after a period of declining health. Dick was born on August 6, 1946 in Biddeford, Maine. He was lovingly adopted by Richard Maloof Sr. and Marion Maloof, who in his words “Gave him a wonderful life and upbringing.” Growing up in Plaistow Dick attended Catholic Schools graduating from Lawrence Central Catholic High School and attending St. Anselm College. In his senior year of college Dick married Suzanne Wicks and they were married for 24 years. Following college graduation Dick was a math and science teacher at Barnard School in South Hampton, NH. In his mid-thirties an opportunity arose to purchase a small gas station in Fremont, NH where he was residing. This is when Dick found his true calling in life. Rowe’s Gas station and Dick Maloof were a staple in town for many years. In the summer he could be seen sitting out front waving as people drove by and during snow storms he would open up at midnight so plow drivers could fill up, have a cup of “his” coffee, his trick was reusing coffee beans and just adding a fresh scoop on top. Anyone who remembers Rowe’s from the 90’s and early 2000’s knows it was a full service station where Dick would fill your tank, check your oil, give the kids Bazooka and the dogs a biscuit. As a business owner Dick had many unorthodox practices, such as letting people “run a tab” for weeks and sometimes months. He was known for helping those less fortunate as well. In addition to his work life Dick loved spending time with his family and friends, bowling in the Raymond Rowdies and playing golf. One of his biggest accomplishments was getting a hole in 1 on the 8th hole at the course he loved dearly, Intervale.

In March of 2009 Dick suffered a massive stroke, against all odds he survived and surpassed many goals in healing that the doctors originally deemed impossible. This perseverance allowed his family 15 more years with him for which they are eternally blessed. He is survived by his twin daughters Elizabeth Mcgovern and her husband Shawn of Raymond, NH and Sarah Malette of Deerfield, NH. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Cameron, Briana, Christina, Collin, Jeremy, Brady, Tess and his great- granddaughter Raidyn. Dick also leaves behind his brother Bob Maloof and wife Rose of Florida as well as several cousins who were like siblings to him.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend a Catholic Mass that will be held at St. Joseph’s parish in Epping, NH at 11:00 on December 4, 2024 followed by lunch in the Parish Hall.
