Richard E. Mayo, Sr., 79, of Hollis, NH, died on the 15th day of December 2020, due to complications of Covid-19.
He was born on November 18th, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Elmer C. and Matilda E. (MacArthur) Mayo.
He was a devoted and loving husband and best friend to Sandra L. Mayo.
Before his retirement he enjoyed working as an electrician. He had a hand in a wide variety of construction projects across the New England states. Rich took great pride in this work and would fondly speak of his experiences.
Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling with his family, camping, visiting national parks, listening to country music and John Denver songs. He loved documentaries and historical programs, was an avid Nascar fan, enjoyed sipping on wine and taking an occasional trip to Foxwoods. After he retired he learned how to make jewelry and for several years traveled to craft shows selling his creations. He had just recently discovered that he loved creating artwork and developed quite a talent painting scenery, especially lighthouses and winter scenes.
His passion and loyalty was also evident in the love he had for family and friends. He was never judgmental of any person he met, rather he was accepting and genuinely interested in who each individual was and where their experiences had taken them. If someone needed help he was the first to stand up and share his talents and abilities on whatever project was at hand. He could repair a car, an appliance, or almost anything else that needed fixing.
He often shared stories that were peppered with fond memories of places he'd lived, worked or visited and the people that he was with or met along the way. He cherished those memories.
He was very sadly pre-deceased by grand-daughter, Cassandra Mayo, grand-daughter, Caylin Bowen and daughter-in-law, Alisa Mayo.
Besides his wife of 24 years, Richard will be missed and is survived by sons Richard Mayo, Jr. of Nashua, NH; Peter Mayo of Nashua, NH; Barry Mayo (Lisa Murphy) of Billerica, MA; and Kirk Mayo (Becky McKenzie) of Virginia Beach, VA; step-daughter Kerry Magee (Michael Magee) of Chelmsford, MA; sister Elaine Chisenall of Goodland, FL; brother-in-law Rodney Blake of Lexington, MA; grand-children, Ashley & PJ Mayo of Nashua, NH; Christopher & Amanda Mayo of San Diego, CA; three great-granddaughters and many other loving relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends may be scheduled at some point in the future when it is safe to do so.
