Richard James McLoughlin, 87, Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, July 20th, 2018. Richard was born on May 15th, 1931 in Queens, New York to Thomas McLaughlin and Maxine (Mills) McLaughlin - Haraden.
Richard is a retired veteran of the United States Air Force where he was stationed at several US military installations including: Langley AFB, Suffolk County AFB, Air Force Academy and Pease AFB. As well as a couple overseas tours in: Pakistan and Thailand. Richard retired from the USAF in 1971 after 22 years of service. The next 20 years Richard worked for the government once again as a Mail Handler Supervisor at the Portsmouth Post Office. During out High School Years Dad encouraged a number of our class mates to take summer jobs there. Several of whom decided to make the Post Office a career choice. That was a nice surprise for our father to hear. Richard retired from the Post Office in 1991.
After retirement Dad kept busy around the house, spending time with his family and friends, watching his favorite TV Shows, relaxing and feeding several generations of birds, groundhogs, squirrels & raccoon's. This kept Dad busy and he loved it. Dad's sense of humor was 2nd to none and he could make anyone laugh. Dad had a soft heart and like our mother, he was always ready to extend his hand to anyone in need.
Richard was predeceased by his bride of 60 years, Iris P. McLoughlin on May 5th, 2016. Richard is survived by his 3 children; son Scott J. McLoughlin and his wife Donna of Rochester, N.H; daughter Robin I. McLoughlin of Phoenix, AZ; son Tracy R. McLoughlin and his wife Desiree of Portsmouth, N.H.; sister Patricia McLaughlin of New York, N.Y; sister-in-law Violet Lavecchia of Englewood, F.L.; grandchildren; Paige and Josh Dubay, Evan and Katrina McLoughlin; great grandchildren; Rylan McLoughlin and Jackson Kimball.
We would like to send a very special heartfelt thank you to Renate' Cormier with Senior Helpers. For the past year, Renate' was a caregiver, companion & a great friend to our father. Renate' genuinely loved Dad and Dad adored her. She was an angel sent from heaven.
