Richard S. “Rick” McMahon, of Goffstown, formerly of Hooksett, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 1. He was the beloved husband of Denise (Provost) McMahon, with whom he shared a life of love, partnership, and purpose, including the creation of Bridge To Natural Wellness, an endeavor he was deeply proud to support.

Born to Onil and Rita (Beaudet) McMahon, Rick graduated from Bishop Bradley High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served as an Airman 1st Class Russian linguist and was highly regarded for his work ethic, precision, and professionalism. He later continued his service to his country with the New Hampshire National Guard.

Following his military service, Rick built a long and respected career with the United States Postal Service. He was a well-known and trusted letter carrier in Suncook before advancing into a role as Senior Delivery Analyst, where he combined his field experience with strong analytical skills.

Rick also valued education and lifelong learning. While working full time, he attended night classes and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University). He remained curious throughout his life and took pride in continually learning and growing.

He enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was an avid candlepin bowler and cribbage player. He took great pride in his work as a chair weaver, including the opportunity to re-cane a daybed at the Paul Revere House. He also loved classic cars and especially enjoyed driving his convertible Chevelle.

Above all, Rick’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Denise; his daughters, Judy (McMahon) Spigarelli and her husband Michael, Kelly (McMahon) Hall and her husband Alan, Nicole Michaud and her husband Hugh Kennedy, and Stacey Lyons, sister Joanne (McMahon) Hollen and her husband Joe, brothers Al McMahon and his wife Phyllis, and John McMahon and his wife Alison, brother-in-law Rich DeYoung, and sisters-in-law Jackie Sage and Lisa Provost; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was a proud “Pépère Rick” to Sadie and her husband Emmett, Jacob, Cléophée, Matthew, and Lyla.

He was predeceased by his parents, Onil and Rita McMahon; his sister, Doris DeYoung; his in-laws, George and Claire Provost; and his brother-in-law, Dick Sage.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, August 28, from 3PM – 6PM at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, NH. A private family interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association ( www.donate.lung.org ) in Rick’s memory.
