Richard Warren Moher Jr.

Richard Warren Moher, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Auburn, NH, on January 26, 2025, from complications of acute myeloid leukemia.

Richard was born on February 27, 1943, in Orange, California, to the late Richard and Elizabeth (Alexander) Moher. He graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1961 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, in 1965 with a degree in Civil Engineering. While at RPI, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he was employed by Turner Construction and worked in Cincinnati, OH; Houston, TX; and Boston, MA.

Richard served his country in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Cold Regions Research & Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, NH, during the Vietnam War.

His roots were always in New Hampshire, and he accepted a job at Harvey Construction as a Project Manager/Estimator in Manchester, moving to Auburn in 1979. He was active in the Auburn community as a Little League coach and Cub Scout leader.

He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and working with stones. Many walls and other features in his yard were built by him using local rocks collected from Auburn and Rye Beach.

Richard enjoyed skiing, racquetball, walks around Massabesic Lake, and especially golf in his later years. He was a member of the Profile Senior Golfers’ Association for 25 years and also played in the Monday league at Candia Woods Golf Links.

Family was important to him, and he enjoyed summers entertaining at his swimming pool with cookouts and gatherings. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.

He was an avid homebrewer and a member of the Brew Free or Die Homebrewers Club. The good times of brewing with friends and family at his house will always be cherished.

Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia (Allen); his sons, Scott Patrick Moher and his partner, Dianna, of Middletown, OH; Douglas Cole Moher and his partner, Stephanie Andersen, of Manchester; and Ryan Allen Moher and his wife, Peggy, of Manchester; his daughters, Dr. Heather Ellen Moher of Kittery, ME, and Vicki Lynn Vaughan and her husband, Timothy Hubbard, of Windham, ME; and his grandsons, Alexander Charles Fiske and Henry Allen Fiske.
