Richard L. (Rick) Murphy, 78 of Merrimack passed away with family members by his side on July 5th, 2021, after a brief illness. Rick is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Charlotte E. (Pihl) Murphy, also from Merrimack. He is pre-deceased by their son, Richard (Ricky) Murphy. Rick is also survived by his sons Greg Murphy and Sean Murphy and their families of Massachusetts.

Additional survivors include siblings Frances Murphy of Beaufort, S.C., Judith Daudelin of Milford, MA, Gerald Murphy of Methuen MA, Sheila Moore of Brookline, MA, Denise Murphy of Newton, MA, John Murphy of Merrimack, NH, and Mary Michael of Pembroke, NH, several sisters and brothers in-law and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Rick was a Vietnam veteran, having served two tours with the Marines. He was a true, die-hard Marine to the core, and continued to serve veterans in his community as Commandant of the Department of NH for the Marine Corp League for many years, as well as a volunteer for Toys for Tots and the NH State Veterans Cemetery detail. Rick was a life-long member of the American Legion.

Rick's quick wit and heart of gold will be missed by many.

Burial will be Friday, July 16th, 2021 at 12:30 pm at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the American Legion, 5 Riverside Street, Hooksett, NH.
