Richard N. Dow, 89, of Boscawen, NH, died Monday, January 19, 2026, following a short period of declining health.

Richard was born in Concord, NH, February 15, 1936, to Levi and Francis (Roach) Dow and attended Concord High School. As a child he was a member of the Boys Club of Concord, now known as the Boys & Girls Club of Central and Northern New Hampshire. He remained active with the organization all his life, attending fundraisers and supporting their mission in every way he could. After high school, Richard proudly served his country with the United States Army. He travelled extensively during his time in the service and particularly loved the time he spent in Germany and Paris.

Following honorable discharge from the military, Richard worked for Rumford Press for several years before joining GE where he enjoyed a successful and rewarding career that spanned more than three decades.

Richard was introduced to his beloved wife Marie in 1963 and they welcomed their first child in 1966. The family of three quickly grew to a family of six and became Richard’s pride and joy. He coached his children’s baseball and softball teams, and he and Marie regularly attended the sporting events of all their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Richard and Marie spent over 60 years together filled with love, laughter, friendship, respect, and mutual adoration.

In his spare time, Richard took his family on many vacations to beaches and mountains and made several memorable trips to New York City. He also found great enjoyment in jumping in the car and going on long rides, trying his luck at the casinos, playing cards with friends and family, and making daily trips to the store for coffee and scratch tickets. Known lovingly as “The Mayor of Boscawen” due to his friendly and engaging nature, Richard had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. He and Marie could also often be seen walking down Main Street in Boscawen enjoying the fresh air and each other’s company.

Richard is survived by his wife Marie (Risatti) Dow: children Michael Dow and his wife Jamie of Webster, Kimberly Schofield and her husband Tom of Webster, Scott Dow and his wife Kimberly of Salisbury, and Michelle Lane and her husband Christopher of Loudon; grandchildren Kayla, Christopher “Bubba”, Kristin, Rian, Joey, Meghan, Joshua, Brittany, Logan, Samantha, Kelsey, Gabrielle, and Zachary; and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by all seven of his siblings, and his granddaughter Angelica “Jelly” Lane.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, January 29th, 3:00-7:00pm at Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Stret in Boscawen. Cemetery committal with military honors will begin promptly at 3pm on Friday, January 30th in the chapel at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, with a Celebration of Life following immediately at Alan’s of Boscawen, 133 North Main Street.
